INBEKON Management Institute develops web content in the field of ICT
for the world of ICT practice and application, based on sound academic
research. In support of this activity the company also offers regular
seminars in which problem issues are addressed by leading
international academics.
Our web content development and seminar activities address a
fundamental shortcoming of the ICT industry, where a deep divide
exists between the academic world and the world of practice and
application. Contrary to most other disciplines, there is very little
contact or cross-fertilization between the two groups, who live apart
and rarely notice each other.
Academics teach, do research and discuss their results amongst each
other at conferences and seminars which no practitioner would dream of
attending. Practitioners and users develop systems, struggle with
technological developments and attend briefings by vendors and
industry analysts. Many of the problems confronting the world of
practice might already have been resolved by research, but the results
have not been communicated to them and are unlikely to ever reach
them.
Over the years, a situation of mistrust has developed between the two
groups and it has become increasingly difficult to bridge this gap.
INBEKON and INBEKON Management Institute have actively been involved
in the world of practice for many years, and, in INBEKON Management
Institute, there has been a deep involvement in IS academic and
research work. We have international connections and obligations that
keep us in constant contact with developments and research in the
academic world of Information Systems. This allows us to be aware of
and familiar with innovative ideas and results that emerge in academic
research.
Our mission is to bring those ideas and results to practitioners –
both ICT professionals and users.
